HAIR

Your pet’s hair is composed of two parts:
A visible part (called the shaft) made of a protein called keratin.
A buried part (called the follicle) which corresponds to the root of the hair.
The hair has a defined life span, there are three phases in the life cycle of a hair:
The anagen phase
Period of hair growth, the follicle sinks into the dermis.
The catagen phase
Period of stagnation when the hair no longer grows.
The telogen phase
The hair shrinks and falls out, replaced by another hair that begins its anagen phase.
MOULTING
The loss of hair is a natural process, however, at certain times of the year, these falls are more abundant: these are the periods of “moulting”, which occur in spring and autumn and give rise to the summer coat and the winter coat. Depending on the breed of your pet, the loss of hair can be more or less abundant (this is the case for long-haired dogs).
